Hi there! My name is Oshadhee Satarasinghe.

I completed my Master's of Music in elementary education at Texas A&M University in 2018. I double majored in Piano and Voice education, studying a variety of aspects on piano and vocal pedagogy for my undergraduate degree (2014). I am certified in both Orff Schulwerk and Kodály pedagogical approaches.

I started learning the piano at age ten and have been in school choir since middle school. I Have studied music in England, Sri Lanka, the United States and currently am pursuing my doctoral studies.

 I started my teaching career soon after I graduated high school in 2008.

 

Teaching/ Performing Experience;

Piano and voice lessons since 2009 (2 years in Sri Lanka, 9 in the USA

Elementary, Middle, and High school general music and choir

University level music education courses at Texas A&M University Commerce.

I have accompanied at all levels of education ranging elementary through university levels.

I have performed at several cathedrals in San Francisco, the Myerson Symphony in Dallas and Carnegie hall, New York with the university choir of Texas A&M Commerce.

Apart from teaching I actively present/ teach workshops for music teachers both locally and at the national level. 

I currently am conducting research on integrating South Asian music into school music curriculums of North America that has led to multiple projects such as publishing book chapters, lesson plans, and conference papers.
